Coughing is a natural reflex mechanism caused by the stimulation of sensory nerves in the lining of the respiratory passage. When we cough a blast of air comes out at high speed, exhaling any form of foreign particles such as dust, mould spores or pollen.

Sore throat is related to several illnesses, but can also be caused by allergy rhinitis when sufferers get irritated by an allergy attack. The same pollen and moulds that irritate the nose when inhaled may also irritate the throat.
